The Saddlebag Program
2006-2007
The saddlebag program will be a joint project between the Kiwanis International Foundation and the Alabama District Foundation.
There will be one set of saddlebags for each division in the district.
The Lieutenant Governor will take the Saddlebag around to each club in his or her division on their first visit. The Lieutenant Governor will inform the club presidents (during club officer training) when they are going to visit an individual club with the Saddlebag. A part of the program will be the club president presenting two checks, one for the International Foundation with a goal of $5 per member and one for the Alabama Foundation with a goal of $5 per member. The checks will be put in the designated pocket in the Saddlebag.
Lieutenant Governor's should recommend during club officer training that these two contributions be included in the approved budget so they do not have to go back to their club board for approval to write the checks.
The Lieutenant Governor should not hold on to the checks if they take more than 30 days to visit all their clubs. Empty the Saddlebag and mail checks to the Foundations. Make sure that each check has club key number on them to be sure of accountability.
The Lieutenant Governor's that have 100% participation from their clubs will receive a plaque.
The clubs that have 100% participation will receive a banner patch.
The campaign will be concluded at the Mid Winter Conference; therefore all funds will be accounted for by the Mid Winter.
This campaign is to provide both Foundations with funds to carry out the objectives for 2003-2004.
The District Foundation President will oversee the saddlebag program.
